- A good set of webbing:
It's essential to have a comfortable, well fitting set of webbing! There's nothing worse than having a set of webbing that doesn't fit properly, rubbing on your hips all weekend and leaving nasty sores. Some people find that assault vests are more comfortable but it really is a personal preference matter. Your best bet is to come in and try on a few different sets until you find the one that's right for you!
- Bergen:
Again this is a personal preference matter. There are two main types of Bergen used: The engineers Bergen, very good, easy access top and loads of space. The infantry Bergen, classic Bergen again with loads of space but more pockets this time.
- Water bottle, one of the most important bits of kit you can have!
- If getting your water bottle out every time isn't your thing then maybe a Camelback hydration pack is for you.
- Mess tins
- K.F.S (knife, fork, spoon)
- 'crap' hat – woolly hat ideally for those cold nights, and a DPM bush hat for day time.
- Baby wipes/Webtex camo wipes.
